INFO

In Your Touch, I Remain explores the notion of a residue as a connecting link between the past and the present, and as a testament to the formative impact the previous generations had on our reality. Starting from my designation of the residue as the traces of our (ancestors) parents that remain in our bodies, the group exhibition approaches themes around the bodily, touch and intimacy, memory, skin, polyphony, and tactility.

In addition to the exhibition, a round table discussion took place moderated by Nazmiye Oral alongside the participating artists Riun Jo, Emmeline de Mooij, Solenne Tadros, Suyoung Yang, and myself. Together with our parents, we reflected on our artistic practices and related artworks, the power of language and the concept of belonging. The language of the round table discussion was in the preferred and/or mother tongues of the participants; being Korean, Farsi, Dutch, and English. During these conversations the artists translated live to and from the spoken languages.

In Your Touch, I Remain was initiated by me during a residency at Omstand x sonsbeek20→24 in Arnhem.
